“I read this book when Jacqui gave me a copy - I must say without being biased it was truly gripping, romantic and well written. Had it not have been a dear friend of mine - I would have still written the same wonderful review!”

“Wow! A lovely read and found myself quickly engrossed - eat your heart out Fifty Shades of Grey!”

“The Candle People is erudite entertainment.  It combines a wonderful use of vocabulary with an obvious knowledge of art. In many ways, it's the articulate descriptions and insightful observations of the characters that elevate this book to a class of its own.  The plot's twists and turns kept me in constant suspense, not to mention the undercurrent of eroticism, that although subtle, is palpable.  I was ultimately rewarded by an understanding of 'the candle people' and with insight into Goya and his lover through their fictional counterparts.  The author does a masterful job of weaving together elements of art, history, and culture while developing characters that are believable and engaging”.

“Brilliant stuff! I could go on and on about the bountiful and beautifully worded passages that caught my eyes and imagination from The Candle People, but I’d end up quoting half the book. It’s thought-provoking, mysterious, romantic, funny, fulfilling…it’s the kind of book that sticks in your mind long after the final page is read. I suspect that I’ll be re-reading this one soon.”

“I'm reading the Candle People now, it's a great story so far.  I read a lot of different types of books before the author even mentioned Du Maurier but I thought of her work because when I worked as a librarian we did a lot of "read alike" lists for patrons.  Kind of a list where if you like this person's work, you might like this.  I'm no expert critic, but the plot is very original and some passages are so hypnotic that I'm reading them again”.
